scarlet fever....

well i take back what i said last week, obviously the iceman has laid off the caffeine or black tar or whatever it was he was on in Melbourne that got him driving like a hyperactive chipmunk. and Ferrari seems to have sorted out whatever gremlins were in their engine. But Massa ... i had so much hopes for the guy, but he has still to show us that he deserves a seat in Ferrari F1.

that said even for Kimi I think we still need to see how things turn out this season. They say the new rules including doing away with traction control will show us who the real drivers are. And what Kimi has done is shown us that he's got stellar skill (esp. with that move leapfrogging Massa), and with an open track he'll drive his way to the podium. But Melbourne had him cracking under pressure further back in the race (and possibly combined with having to actually drive every inch than letting traction control baby you). On the other hand performance at Melbourne tends to be quite atrocious since the drivers have generally forgotten how to drive. And is the lack of traction control killing Massa? When he's good, he's really good, but once in a while he tends to slip up ... maybe traction control was saving him before. We shall see..

as for the others, BMW has been doing quite well and Toyota too, although i doubt a serious contender for the top tiers. Alonso's doing as well as possible in the equivalent of a lawnmower amongst top tier F1 cars, and as for Hamilton, the boy's got mad skill, but can he cut it? last season had him sporting rookie mistakes (but then again he is kind of a rookie), lets see if he's learnt anything.

And i still think "Force India" is the corniest name for an F1 team. period.
